Spug meeting on Thursday 22nd April

For the next SPUG Meeting we will meet us in Lausanne on Thursday 22nd April at 19’00 o’clock. Location is 10min walk from the train station. It is located at:

Rue Beau-Séjour 24, Lausanne

The easiest way on foot is:

get off the train, climb the stairs, cross the road
climb the steep road left of the McDonalds
when you meet a weird fountain in the middle of the road, turn right on rue du Midi
after 100m this road becomes rue Beau-Séjour. Number 24 is almost at the end.

A few people have announced some lightning talks, but there is no formal agenda. Feel free to bring a couple of slides if you have something you would like to talk about. Even without slides, discussion topics are welcome !

Snacks and drinks will be organized, and a beamer will be available.

The first SPUG-meeting happened a while ago and we had various interesting talks. Following we would like to share these presentations with the rest of the world. Furthermore we also attached a presentation given at the western Switzerland Linux User Group (GULL), we announced earlier.

This short notice to inform folks from Switzerland & vicinity that we will be holding a small puppet booth at OpenExpo, which takes place in Bern next wednesday an thursday (March 24. and 25.)

If you happen to be around, come and find us at the open-source village.

You might also be interested by one or another ot the promising conferences that will be held.

The western Switzerland Linux User Group (GULL) is organizing a presentation of puppet and automated system administration practices. This talk will take place on tuesday 2. March at 19.30 in Beausobre, Morges and will be in french. More details can be found on the GULL’s website.

1st SPUG meeting - 1. SPUG Treffen

The Swiss Puppet User Group, short SPUG, has been coined to give puppet-users and developers in Switzerland a platform to meet and discuss. To finally kick off this idea, we will meet on Thursday the 18th of February a first time. We’d like to clear the way to meet regularly in the future at different member’s locations. The first meeting will take place in the premises of Puzzle ITC at the Eigerplatz 4 in Berne. You find a map here.

In a informal atmosphere with snacks and drinks, we’d like to listen to some lightning talks around puppet. We will gather around 7 PM at the Eigerplatz 4 in the fifth level. The event is open to everybody interested - simply show up and have fun!

Transport Layer Encryption using the Puppet PKI and IPsec
Dealing with Passwords and Private Keys in Manifests
Managing Mac Workstations with Puppet

If you’re interested in giving a short, 5 to 10 minutes, presentation about where and how you use puppet or you’d like anything special to show, your invited to give a spontaneous talk. Laptop and beamer are present.

The SPUG-Puppeteers

Donnerstag, 18. Februar, 2010, 19 Uhr - Eigerplatz 4, Bern

Die Swiss Puppet User Group, kurz SPUG, wurde mit dem Ziel ins Leben gerufen, Puppet-AnwenderInnen und EntwicklerInnen aus der Schweiz eine Plattform zur Diskussion und zum Ideenaustausch zu bieten. Um dieses Vorhaben in die Tat umzusetzen, werden wir uns am Donnerstag, den 18. Februar ein erstes Mal treffen. Damit soll der Grundstein gelegt werden um sich zukünftig regelmässig bei verschiedenen MitstreiterInnen zu treffen. Das erste Treffen werden wir in den Räumlichkeiten von Puzzle ITC am Eigerplatz 4 in Bern abhalten. Einen Situationsplan für die Anreise findet sich hier.

In lockerer Atmosphähre zu Snacks und Drinks wird man einige kurze Vorträge rund um das Thema Puppet zu hören bekommen. Dabei soll auch der Austausch zwischen den TeilnehmerInnen nicht zu kurz kommen. Das Treffen beginnt um 19:00 Uhr am Eigerplatz 4 im fünften Stock. Der Anlass ist für alle Interessierte offen - taucht einfach auf und tauscht euch aus!

Falls du auch gerne 5 - 10 Minuten etwas darüber erzählen möchtest, wo du Puppet unter welchen Umständen wie einsetzt oder du etwas spezielles zeigen möchtest, so steht es dir frei am Abend die Gelegenheit einfach zu nutzen und ganz spontan einen Vortrag zu halten. Laptop und Beamer sind vorhanden.

So let’s meet and kick off spug.ch. All interested puppeteers are invited!

Doodle says let’s meet on February 18th 2010 at 19:00. We will meet us at Eigerplatz 4 in Bern, which are the offices of Puzzle ITC (Location).

For future SPUG meetings we will meet at other locations of people participating in SPUG. If you’re interested in particiapte in SPUG, join the mailinglist and say helo.

So show up, give some insights in how you use Puppet in your company, project or on your machine. Meet other puppeteers, have fun and hopefully learn new cool things.
